The False God And False Self Of Addiction
The two codependent roles, the Dependent and Controller, create an unconscious dictatorship where the Controller becomes the Dependent's "false god." The codependent dictatorship is a closed system and has no spiritual connection because the Dependent is programmed to make the Controller his higher power. Within the covert dictatorship, the Controller cannot allow the Dependent to grow, self-actualize and become equal or more powerful. The Dependent role, which is a "false self," is programmed to stay broken, needy and entitled. The relationship is rigid, with a thick rule book that creates dishonest performances and the temporary illusion of feeling rescued, secure, powerful and connected at the euphoric high/fix.
During my research, several questions about the origins of the two inherited codependent roles became my focus. I became fascinated and wondered how long have the two unconscious codependent roles hijacked us out of our authentic self, spirituality and root honesty? How were they created? How did they get into our unconscious? Why do codependent's have one role and addict's have two?
I've had several codependents and addict's say to me, "We're all dependent and we all need to control things. It's part of our humanity, it's normal and natural." I agree, we are dependent on many things besides food, water, shelter, etc. We also must control many things in our life, finance, manage our work, drive a car, etc. The difference is these are "conscious things" that can be negotiated. Codependence and addiction is unconscious and non negotiable. The two codependent roles are fixed and programmed to attract, seduce and destroy below our conscious radar.
So, where did the two unconscious codependent roles come from? Have they always been apart of our humanity or were they created from a psychological and spiritual imbalance? I give several answers to these questions in my book, The Addict's Loop but I want to share with you some basic concepts I discovered.
A note: I use the word "conjured" in my essays. It's not the conjured described or used in a séance. My definition of "conjured," is when the unconscious or collective unconscious becomes extremely repressed and "highly charged," The psychological imbalanced creates or "conjures" a counter image of a rescuing and controlling false god.
To understand the origins of the Controller and Dependent role, one has to wrap one's head around the concept that these two roles were created in the unconscious and have lived there ever since. In the story below, I will explain how I believe the two codependent roles originated in the unconscious.

The Repressed Dependent And The Conjured Controller
There is a seven-year-old boy who lives in a small, rural town. Next door to the young boy is a beautiful, dense forest. The young boy loves to ride his bike and play in the forest, which is filled with innocent creatures that run and hide when children are nearby. One day the young boy goes camping with his neighbor, who brings his teenage son. For many years there has been a myth of a shadow creature that lives in the forest. The story is told that, during the darkness of night, the creature steps out of the shadow and kills little children, eats their hearts, and disappears back into the forest. The young boy has never heard the story. That night around the campfire, the teenager, who's not afraid of the myth, tells the story of the shadow creature, which deeply frightens the young boy. The boy becomes so terrified that he refuses to enter the forest, even during the day.
While at school, the young boy hears more stories about the shadow creature. He learns that the shadow creature has large black eyes and a snake's tongue and sometimes kidnaps children from their beds and drags them off into the dark forest. At night, the young boy is so frightened that he can't sleep and is paralyzed with fear, imagining the shadow creature entering his room and eating his heart. The young boy's fears are so overwhelming that he blocks them out and represses them in order to cope and survive. The more he fears the shadow creature, the more he represses his thoughts and feelings. The more he represses his thoughts and fears, the deeper man-made hell is created in his unconscious. I have named the child’s repressed fears "man-made hell" to represent the multi-generational significance of the shadow creature myth. The teenage boy and school friends did not create the myth. The story was created by man and passed down through the generations, where it was feared and repressed in the unconscious and became a part of the original unconscious pain load (repressed, multigenerational fears, rage, emotional pain and abuse), that travels from generation to generation.

One day, the image of a superhero appears in the young boy's consciousness. The boy begins to fantasize about the superhero's abilities and how the superhero can easily destroy the shadow creature. The super hero is the powerful, rescuing, controller role and false god. The boy gives the heroic controller role a name and mimics the controller's powers. His new imaginary, heroic controller makes the young boy feel protected, rescued and safe. Whenever the child is fearful, he visualizes the imagined heroic controller and himself destroying the forest shadow creature. The boy's imaginary hero-controller is also from the unconscious and creates the illusion of escaping the child’s deep fears (the shadow monster).
Because the two roles, the dependent and controller, were created in the unconscious, they can never leave and only create a temporary illusion of escape into euphoric salvation. The boy then reawakens back in his fears and abandonment. The reawakening and realization of being abandoned in man-made hell with the images of the shadow creature creates more fear and obsession to escape, and so the boy, once again, conjures his heroic controller to rescue him and lift him above his fears into a union of euphoric salvation. I believe this unconscious psychological pattern between the two codependent roles created The Addict's Loop.
The child's deep repressed fears of the shadow monster creates an imbalance in the young boy's psychology. The imbalance triggers a defense mechanism which creates or conjures a counter image of the heroic controller in the unconscious, which is sent to the boy's conscious. The young child did not analyze himself and discover that his deep fears needed a hero and leader to rescue him. The child's deep repressed fears and psychological imbalance create the heroic controller, which creates the temporary illusion of rescuing the fearful, dependent boy into euphoric salvation.

The False God Of Addiction Rises Into Our Exterior World
Addiction may have been created when man was isolated for long periods of time and continually repressed his overwhelming fears and brutal relationships. Over long periods of time, dependent, isolated and fearful man may have prayed for a rescuing, false god, instead of praying for a higher power that brings strength and self actualizes his core abilities to survive. The false god becomes a temporary "fixing god" of seduction, control, power and manipulation.
The example of the unconscious controller role or "false god" being conjured and projected into our exterior world, could be described with the story of an ancient tribe of isolated and fearful men.
Thousands of years ago, there was a tribe that existed under extreme fears of survival and war with a neighboring tribe. One day, one of the tribesman has a vision of a very tall man with a rams head holding a large spear. The tribesman believes his "vision" is the tribe's “rescuing spirit god,” that will save them and help them defeat the neighboring tribe. The tribesman that had the vision, convinces his tribe to build a large statue of their new spirit god. The tribe agrees and builds a large statue of the spirit god and begin to worship and pray for the rescuing spirit god to bring them food, salvation and help them defeat their neighboring enemy.
During this time, the tribe uses a substance that creates a powerful “euphoric high” and union with the new spirit god. The tribe's euphoric substance, emotionally elevates them above their fears and makes them feel powerful, connected, and immortal like their powerful spirit god. The tribe's euphoric substance creates an illusion of escaping their fears and hostile environment and then at some point the tribe's "high" dissipates and they fall back down to earth or reawaken back into their rejection, abandonment, fears and brutal surroundings, which motivates more euphoric substance use to escape and once again feel rescued, powerful, in control and immortal.
The tribesman that had the vision of the rescuing spirit god, becomes jealous of the spirit god and believes because he was sent the vision and should also be worshiped. The tribesman convinces his tribe the spirit god speaks through him and he will help defeat the neighboring tribe. The tribe agrees and the tribesman who had the vision wears a mask in the shape of a Ram's head and carries a large spear. To keep his power and control, the new leader must rescue and lead his dependent tribe and keep them subservient and the dependent tribesmen must follow, praise and worship their new leader. It is my belief, that family and political "dictatorships" evolved from these ancient unconscious codependent patterns.
The statue, the euphoric substance and the tribe's new leader all become the tribe's false gods. All four represent an "exterior thing," the tribe attaches themselves to and believe they need to survive.

Two Leaders - One From The Collective Unconscious And The Other From Our Collective Higher Self
At the tipping point, when the population's multi-generational repressed pain, fears and abuse peaks and man-made hell begins to collectively surface, false prophets and false gods can appear that will create the illusion of salvation and euphoria using the collective addict's loop. The false god will create the illusion of ascending the population above their repressed fears and collective man-made hell, into euphoric salvation. While ascending the population into the euphoric high/fix, the false god can manipulate the population's unconscious man-made hell and lead them blindly into the mass destruction of innocents, and then self-destruction.
I also believe, when chaos peaks and unconscious and repressed man-made hell collectively surfaces into consciousness and our exterior world, true spiritual leaders can appear or be collectively conjured from our higher self. These leaders can guide us back into our core identity and spiritual center of gravity, which closes the door on our collective codependence and man-made hell. The enlightened spiritual guide does not manipulate or judge the ego or discriminate, but creates a universal path for self-actualization. I believe these true spiritual leaders are unconsciously "enlightened", or experience a "greater cause", that bypasses their own survival and self-centeredness to ensure the salvation and self-actualization of humanity with no hidden agenda, manipulation or addiction "fixes." I write about the collective conjuring of a spiritual leader in my book, The Addict's Loop, chapter, "The Spiritual Transformation When Chaos Peaks."
I find it very interesting to study history and identify the collective imbalance of a population's original unconscious pain load (repressed, multigenerational fears, rage, emotional pain and abuse) and connect it with the timing and arrival of a spiritual leader or a false god.
